We are Trinitarian Christians, in other words. Hear, o Israel, the Lord our God is one, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The second person of the Trinity was sent into the world to take on human flesh, which He did. He lived a perfect, sinless life, which our human authorities found intolerable, so they crucified Him. He was buried in a grave, and rose from the dead on the third day. After instructing His disciples to wait for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, He ascended into Heaven, where He was crowned with glory and honor, and was given full and complete royal authority over the Pacific Northwest, along with everywhere else.
In the book Pray Big, Alistair Begg helps us rejuvenate our prayer lives by examining the prayers of the apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians. When you read Pray Big, you'll discover that Paul prayed often, clearly enjoyed praying, and found it exciting to ask God to move in big, bold ways to build His kingdom. The truths that underpin and shape Paul's prayers for his friends in the church in Ephesus will motivate you to pray bigger and bolder too!
Truth Of The Life Torrent
A young boy with a 'refugee' tag growing up in Delhi's Malviya Nagar outpaces his circumstances by becoming a rank-holder at the pinnacle of academic excellence in India-IIT Delhi. He goes on to do an MBA from the hallowed halls of IIM Ahmedabad, builds a career as an investment banker at Kotak Investment Banking and AmEx, and is pivotal in the making of two unicorns-Grofers, as CFO, and BharatPe, as co-founder.As a judge on the popular TV show Shark Tank India, Ashneer becomes a household name even as his life turns upside down. Controversy, media spotlight, garrulous social media chatter descend, making it difficult to distinguish fact from fiction.
Torrents of Truth was initiated by Guillaume Roukhomovsky, the French creative director of 72andSunny(Opens in a new tab), an American/Dutch creative agency, who saw an opportunity in Russia's refusal to pay for the use of intellectual property coming from the West. The latter was announced by the Kremlin at the start of March(Opens in a new tab), supposedly to counter sanctions Russia was hit with after its invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24.To bring the idea to life, Roukhomovsky collaborated with Olga Kokoshko, managing partner at Kyiv-based marketing agency Nebo(Opens in a new tab). When the war started, Nebo, which had worked predominantly in the Ukrainian market, lost all its clients. Kokoshko and her family were forced to flee. She now works from abroad, connecting Nebo to the international market. This is how she found 72andSunny, and the two agencies united to turn their expertise in marketing into a form of cyber guerrilla warfare.
When it comes to the journalists in the project, Kokoshko explains, it was a conscious choice to keep Torrents of Truth a mostly Ukrainian space. Yet, they also considered the role Russians can play in spreading the truth about Putin's war.
Creating a sense of trust and connection is also an important reason why Torrents of Truth is not being run undercover. Its creators stand next to it proudly, having strategically decided against anonymity. On their website(Opens in a new tab), anyone can see the video reports the campaign has produced and the team is also transparent about the torrents they hijack, as well as their traction.
It was really important for us that this initiative gets people's attention because the torrents will get more popular the more people seed them," says Roukhomovsky. "This is why we decided to make this initiative public and ask people from every country to download the torrents."
Roukhomovsky explains Torrents of Truth has servers all over Europe, including two each in Poland and the Netherlands, and one each in France and Germany. The torrents are being seeded at high speed, and the group has multiple IPs to ensure the source can't be blocked.
We speak to Roukhomovsky two days after the launch of the campaign, by which time Torrents of Truth had uploaded 21 torrents, ranging from The Matrix to Adobe's Photoshop to Rammstein's latest album, Zeit. Unlike other campaigns Roukhomovky and Kokoshko have worked on, the human impact of this project cannot really be calculated. But there is a way to relatively measure Torrents of Truth's success, by checking how many seeds each torrent(Opens in a new tab) gets.
"After so many years of propaganda, Russia is not going to change from one side to the other in one snap," says Roukhomovsky. "But even though 90 percent of the people who are going to see that truth might not believe it, there might be 10 percent, or even one person, one Russian citizen, that might change their mind. That's already a good enough result for us."
Russia's propaganda is not the only method that has stayed the same since Soviet days. Biriukov sees Russia's invasion of Ukraine as a symptom of a much larger issue. To him, helping others understand the truth means helping put an end to cyclical violence.
Freud basically came to the conclusion that as humans, we had one of two shitty options in life: 1) repress all of our basic instincts to maintain some semblance of a safe and cooperative civilization, thus making ourselves miserable and neurotic or 2) to let them all out and let shit hit the fan.
To Freud, Hitler and World War II just proved his point a few years later. And as an Austrian Jew, he ran for the hills. The hills being London, of course. He lived out the last years of his life in a city being bombed into oblivion.
What does it mean to be a self-conscious animal? The idea is ludicrous, if it is not monstrous. It means to know that one is food for worms. This is the terror: to have emerged from nothing, to have a name, consciousness of self, deep inner feelings, an excruciating inner yearning for life and self-expression and with all this yet to die. It seems like a hoax, which is why one type of cultural man rebels openly against the idea of God. What kind of deity would create such a complex and fancy worm food?
Popcorn Time is a revolution in the world of torrents. An app that presents movies beautifully, just like Netflix, but with one crucial difference: they're all streamed illegally using torrent technology. Popcorn Time is just a really pretty torrent streaming client.
The truth is that the app itself (and all the clones) is based entirely on torrents. When users stream media, the app downloads a torrent file, joins the swarm, and immediately seeds the file back out to everyone else.
From the perspective of anti-p2p organizations and the companies hired to monitor torrents, this is a problem. It's no different to anyone heading over to the PirateBay and downloading it using a traditional torrent client. Popcorn Time is a just very pretty media index and torrent client in one package.
Don't be under the illusion that you're protected simply because you're using Popcorn Time-based apps to stream content instead of downloading in a traditional torrent client. It is exactly the same thing underneath with a pretty interface on top, so every precaution you should take when downloading a torrent still applies when using these streaming applications.
Okay---so you've downloaded the new official open-source client. So that's safe to use, right? Not so fast. Remember, this is all still based on torrents. Your ISP can see exactly what you're doing, and if a torrent monitoring company sees your IP in the swarm, it'll get your info from your ISP and potentially lead to a lawsuit.
The very nature of peer-to-peer torrent technology means that everyone who attempts to download a file is given a list of everyone else doing the same: you become both the downloader, and uploader. Even if you've set your client to never upload, you'll still be on the list as a peer.
It should therefore be obvious that anti-p2p organizations could do the same thing to figure out who is downloading a specific file. Companies are paid to monitor specific torrents by the copyright owners, which they do by downloading it themselves, checking the swarm, and keeping a record of every IP address they see.
Using a VPN is the only safe way of having any contact with torrents, period. Tunnel your connection through a torrent-friendly VPN that won't keep records of who was using the service and when.
We maintain a list of best VPNs, but not all of them are friendly toward torrents. Private Internet Access is the most commonly recommended for p2p users, but even then, you're asked to restrict your torrent usage to servers located in specific countries.
It's often been recommended that anyone dabbling in torrents should run Peerblock or Peerguardian. These apps work like a firewall, maintaining a list of "bad IPs" that belong to anti-p2p organizations, universities, and law enforcement agencies.
In fact, these apps often prevent useful peers from seeding a file to you because their IP is unlucky enough to be in a block owned by a certain company or university. The app provides a false sense of security and will not provide any protection when using torrents.
How promoters and life insurance agents often explain how to be your own bank can be sensationalized and over-hyped. In fact, even the most popular publications (seen below) can be downright misleading at times:
